RNC Passes Flexible Candidate Resolution

The Republican National Committee unanimously passed a more flexible alternative to the initially proposed “litmus test,” which would have required a candidate to agree with 7 of 10 conservative principles.  Ford O’Connell and Steve Pearson (ProjectVirginia co-founders) penned an article condemning the RNC forcing candidates to agree to a percentage of the conservative principles, saying “It won’t be the questions on a litmus test that bring success or failure to conservatives in 2010. It will be, as always, the strength of the character of our candidates.”   The ratified measure will have the RNC review each candidate rather than have candidates pass a test to receive the organization’s support – exactly what O’Connell and Pearson called for.
