Hampton Roads Tea Party Won't Endorse In Virginia's 2nd District

The Hampton Roads Tea Party will probably stay neutral in Virginia’s second district after the nomination of GOP candidate Scott Rigell, according to the Virginian-Pilot’s Bill Bartel. Virginia’s Second Congressional District is considered one of the GOP’s two best pick-up opportunities in Virginia — the other being Democratic Rep. Tom Perrilello‘s seat in the Commonwealth’s Fifth Congressional District — and in both, tea partyers are loudly proclaiming their readiness to support a third party candidate.  This is not good news for the GOP at a time when both Republicans candidates — Scott Rigell in VA-2 and Robert Hurt in VA-5 — need broad conservative support in their respective districts to win in November.  If neither candidate can win Tea Party support, November will be rough.
