Unfortunately it seemed this segment was a little rushed because of time.  Robert Bluey of The Heritage Foundation narrated the panel discussion.  Bluey began by discussing how The Heritage Foundation has shifted their Communications Department.  Heritage (like many political campaigns) had relied solely on traditional media, specifically newspapers, to spread their message.  Now they use the Internet and social media to circumvent traditional media and bring their message straight to the people.

Tucker Carlson, co-founder of the DailyCaller.com, explained that the Internet is killing mainstream media because it provides every piece of news, not just what the mainstream media’s political bias wants to report.  Of course, the Internet is destroying mainstream media for many other reasons but this is an important idea that doesn’t get a lot of airtime.  For too long newspaper editorial sections and TV news programs have chosen news that fits their political agenda, even if it meant ignoring major stories.  The Internet age will force mainstream media to change or go out of business.
